I just finished reading the pope's lenten message.O.K, I know, I know I am pathetic but better late then never. Anyways it is amazing. If any one is a procrastinator like me and hasn't read it yet do it now before Lent is over. It will definatly be time well spent and hopefully will encourage you to presevere through these final days. I will give you a sneek preveiw. Guardian of Virgins

Happy Feast Day to you dear St. Joseph!
Here is a prayer I say daily to this gentle and yet powerful intercessor.
"O Good Saint Joseph, father and guardian of virgins, to who's faithful keeping Christ Jesus, innocence itself, and Mary, the virgin of virgins,were entrusted I commend myself to you and beg you to keep my mind untainted, my heart pure and my body chaste and help me always to serve Jesus and Mary in perfect chastity. Amen."I think the actual prayer is longer but this is how I say it.

A Day at the Zoo

I have been writing so much for school I just haven't been up to blogging. I'm on spring break now but am still not up to it so I will do a photo post instead. Here are pics from yesterday's outing to the zoo. We were going to go to a museum but changed our plans at the last moment due to it being such a gorgeous day.

Sending birthday blessings over to Bernsie at HSM lover. For all yous who don't already know the little HSM follower of mine is my little sis. She will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the movie, the actors, the plot etc..
As well as being an expert on that subject she also loves dogs and wants to open a shelter in our garage. Of course my parents won't let her but she still dreams. Our dog Barkley is with us today because Berns saw her wander past our yard and decided she needed rescuing. She also dreams of being an actress and a singer as well as owning a horse ranch.

Is it a Child?

There are some things about our culture that really bother me. For example how we talk about "equal rights" for everyone and yet deny them to the most innocent and vulnerable or how people are always talking about individuality and "being yourself" and yet if you fail to conform to the ideologies of today your are labeled as "old-fashioned" or "religious fanatics". Among all these things one issue in particular annoys me. That is the practice of referring to babies in the womb as "it". People say things like "It's a boy" or "how is it doing", "Did you see it yet". Would you ever refer to someone as "it"? When inquiring about someone would you say" How has it been feeling"? This is just one of the many ways we dehumanize, so to speak, the unborn child. Just because we can not see them, and many times their gender is unknown makes them no less human then you or I.
When speaking about unborn human life, then, please do not say it. Say rather "How is the baby"? You can also use terms such as little one or just plain child, after all a baby is a child. Human beings are profoundly influenced by language. It is our way of making sense of the world and communicating and transmitting our ideas to others. The choice of words plays a very important role in correctly transmitting our opinions. When conducting poles and surveys researchers play close attention to the choice of words used, often so they are more likely to get the results they desire. Let us then always choose our words carefully and choose ones which will portray the truth, that all human life is sacred and that unborn babies are living human beings.
